Solos

How to qualify for a solo is the most asked question when it comes to the ice show. The solo spots are designated to showcase advanced skaters and give young skaters something to aspire to. That's why it is based on skill rather than age. Age may be a factor in some situations where there are more qualified skaters than spots. If you have performed a solo before or not, may also be a factor.

If a solo is something you would like to achieve in your years with Border Blades, be sure to sit down with your coach at the beginning of every skating season and establish goals that will get you to that point.

Soloists must have passed Bronze Singles  (Juvenile Freeskate) test, or higher OR two of the following: Gold Skating Skills (Senior MIF), All Gold Dances, Gold Solo Free Dance by February 2nd, 2024. 

Border Blades will select soloists based on highest test levels and by utilizing a point system. The decision the BBFSC Ice Show Committee makes will be final.

Soloists are responsible for their own coaching. Music will be provided by the Grand Forks Park District.

Small Groups (Duets, Trios or Quartets)

Skaters who qualify for a solo will receive priority when filling solo/small group spots. 

Open to skaters who have passed their Pre-Bronze Singles (Pre-Juvenile Freeskate) test, or higher OR two of the following; Silver Skating Skills (Junior MIF), All Silver Dances, Pre-Gold Solo Free Dance by February 2nd, 2024

Skaters who are eligible for a solo, may choose a small group instead, but not both.  

Border Blades will select small group members based on highest test levels and by utilizing a point system. The decision the BBFSC Ice Show Committee makes will be final. 

Small groups will be formed by the ice show committee. Skaters will not have the opportunity to choose who they skate with. If you are not willing to skate with everyone, please do not register for a small group. 
Groups will be posted after the registration closes. Inquiries about groups ahead of posting will not be responded to.

Small Groups are responsible for their own coaching, music will be provided by the Grand Forks Park District.

Large Group Numbers

All Border Blades members are invited to participate and must register.

These groups will be determined by individual skating level and age.  Groups are based on Singles and Skating Skills testing level, with an effort to make all groups close to the same size. It is possible that your skater may not be in the same group as all of their synchro teammates. 
If you are unsure of your skaters test level, USFS members can view test history in their Members Only Account.

Practices will begin Monday February 12th. Each group will have one practice per week on either Monday or Tuesday evening plus a 4th practice on Thursday February, 29th.

Senior Group Number

This number must consist of two or more skaters and seniors only.  Seniors will be contacted and do not need to register.

Synchronized skating teams

All teams will perform in the show. No need to register.
