After much consideration and discussion, we have reached the point of having to cancel the Holiday Classic competition. Despite great efforts to prepare for a safe competition, the rapidly increasing COVID-19 rates in the city and surrounding areas have led to the difficult decision that we need to cancel the competition to keep skaters and families safe. We will be processing refunds to all registered skaters.
Stay safe and thank you for your support.
The Holiday Classic has events for Compete USA (Learn To Skate) and USFS levels. Registration is combined into a single registration website.
REQUIRED WAIVERS: The standard U.S. Figure Skating Waivers must be completed by all attendees at this sanctioned competition. See the USFS Required Waiver Instructions document for instructions.
Everyone's safety is our primary concern. Please review all available COVID-19 information and requirements.
We will be holding "Know Before You Go" Zoom meetings on Monday November 16th. The purpose of the meetings is to explain what to expect during the day of the event and to answer as many questions as possible. With the numerous safety precautions and a very detailed schedule, it is important to us to get all participants on the same page prior to the event. Your participation in this meeting will help us work towards a successful event.
Schedule and other information can also be viewed in the registration website.
COVID-19 STATEMENT: BBFSC anticipates additional health and safety measures for this event as suggested by USFSA and the appropriate state and federal agencies. Specific operations and safety measures continue to evolve, therefore those specific measures for the competition will be determined and communicated to all attendees closer to the event start date.
Disclaimer: By attending and/or participating in the BBFSC 2020 Holiday Classic, all skaters, coaches, officials, spectators, and volunteers assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. Additional information can be found on our COVID-19 page. Please direct all COVID-safety protocol questions to: covid@borderblades.org
On Thursday, October 29, Governor Burgum elevated the covid-risk level for Grand Forks county from moderate to high risk. This means we will be following the ND Smart Restart standards for large gatherings at the high risk level. In order to adhere to these stricter requirements and still have the competition, we will not be able to allow spectators at the competition. Each skater can be accompanied by one (1) parent or guardian and one (1) coach. Each skater will also receive a very detailed schedule with designated times for arrival, locker room, warm up, and competition and will then have to leave the rink to allow capacity for the next group of skaters. Full details will be provided once the competition schedule is set.
Please be aware that the competition will be canceled if Grand Forks County moves to a "Critical Risk Level" under the ND Smart Restart guidelines. Participants will be provided a refund if the event is canceled.
The covid-19 situation is fluid and we will continue to monitor the situation and adhere to the North Dakota Department of Health guidelines. Thank you for your understanding!
