Summer Programs

Border Blades Figure Skating Club is excited to announce our Summer Programs for 2023! 

Summer programs are available to skaters from all clubs. 

Border Blades Summer programs will run from June 5 - July 27. There will be no ice on July 4th & 5th and private ice only on July 3rd & 6th.

All programs are held at ICON Arena on the Rydell Rink.

Private Ice

Skaters can be on the ice for practice or lessons any day and time private ice is scheduled.  Summer private ice is available to Members, Associates, and Non-Members during the summer. 

June 6 - July 28 (no ice on July 4th or 5th)

Private Ice For Non-Member Coaches

Non-member coaches are invited to coach on BBFSC private ice during the summer months. We ask that you register using the link below to let us know you are coming and so we can insure all CERS and USFS memberships are up to date throughout the summer.

Edge/Power Classes

Strengthen skating skills and build endurance with an edge/power class.  Class size is limited. Required levels for classes are being determined.

High Edge Class:

For skaters who have passed Pre-Juvenile Moves in the Field and above.

June 5 - July 27 (no class July 4-7)

Low Edge Class:

For skaters that have not tested through those who have passed Preliminary Moves in the Field

Skating Academy - Learn To Skate

Group lessons for skaters looking to improve their skills. Class size is limited.  Registration closes May 31st.

June 5 - July 27 (no class July 4-7)

Tuesday & Thursday
11:30 am - 11:45am Practice time
11:45 am - 12:15 pm Class

Aspire

This is a group class for our beginner Border Blades skaters and those looking to transition from learn to skate to figure skating! Skaters will learn to train like a figure skater, and work on edge skills to spins and jumps. 

June 5 - July 27 (no class July 4-7)

Tuesday & Thursday
11:00 am - 11:30 am Class
11:30 am - 11:45 am Practice time

Registration closes May 31st.

Skaters should be able to skate comfortably forward and backward. Turn from forward to backwards. Glide on one foot, on both feet and easily come to a complete stop.

This class is not open to skaters who have already passed their pre-preliminary moves in the field test.

Club and USFS Membership Dues

Please ensure you have renewed your Border Blades / USFS membership prior to coming for a class, lesson, or private ice. You will not be allowed to skate if this has not been completed.  Memberships last for 1 year beginning July 1st and ending June 30th of the following year.  Visit the membership page for full details.

Non-members must be registered with another club and provide their USFS number and home club.

Additional Information

  • Ice Makes at 8:00 am & 10:45 am
  • Please see the refund policy before registering.
  • Pricing will not be pro-rated.
  • Skaters taking private lessons must check-in before entering the ice.
  • Non-BBFSC Coaches may request to be allowed to coach on summer private ice. All USFS CER & Insurance must be up to date
  • BBFSC reserves the right to limit the number of skaters on the ice or in a class to preserve the safety of all skaters and the quality of the class.
  • Skaters under the age of 16 are recommended to have an adult/guardian on site.
  • BBFSC reserves the right to remove a skater from a session [temporarily or permanently] should their behavior [physically or verbally] on or off the ice be disruptive to the class or deemed a safety hazard for other skaters.
  • All Grand Forks Park District facility rules must be followed.

BBFSC Refund Policy (Rev 1/2016)

Please review the following prior to registering for any membership or program.   

  1. The Border Blades Figure Skating Club does NOT offer refunds after the skating season begins.
  2. Refunds prior to the start of a skating session may be given for valid medical reasons or the dissolution of a synchronized skating line ONLY.
  3. All requests for refunds must be in writing, addressed to the Board of Directors and the request must be accompanied by an official and detailed doctor's certificate (if applicable) and treatment plan, before any consideration is given.
  4. If granted, refunds for medical reasons will be less a $75 administration fee, Border Blades Membership fee and USFS registration fees are non-refundable. Refunds are for ice fees, synchro ice fees and synchro coaching fees only.
  5. The Club is not responsible for refunding registration fees, coaches travel fees or making-up for sessions missed.
  6. The Club is NOT obligated to refund fees for unforeseen ice closures due to special events/circumstances, weather or equipment/mechanical breakdown beyond our control. The Club will make every effort to make up for cancelled sessions.
